I’m glad you’re here.

However things are for you right now, this is a space where your experience can be heard, understood and explored safely and confidentially.

Life can be really hard and overwhelming, and it often throws us curve balls we never saw coming.

You might have found your way here because you’re feeling anxious, weighed down by a difficult past or painful experiences, or simply stuck and lost in a life that doesn’t quite feel like your own anymore.

At the heart of my practice is the belief that you are the expert on your own life. That doesn’t mean you have to go through it alone. I offer a warm, confidential and safe space where you can explore your experiences and feelings openly, at your own pace, and without judgment.

Therapy for me reflects the growth of the lotus flower. A lotus grows through the mud before it can bloom, and in a similar way we can grow through the messy, painful parts of life when we have the right conditions—acceptance, empathy and a supportive therapeutic relationship.

About Me

Hi,  I’m Lisa.

I am a trainee psychotherapist currently completing my final year of a four-year MSc in Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute.

Throughout my training, I have gained extensive clinical experience across the East Midlands, working with organisations like The Haven and Nottingham Counselling Service. With over 450 client hours in both short and long-term therapy, I am deeply committed to this work. Having also completed over 160 hours of my own personal therapy, I truly understand the courage it takes to sit in the client’s chair.

My path to becoming a therapist was paved during my eighteen-year career in education as a teacher working with young people facing complex emotional needs.  I navigated my own challenges with anxiety and burnout and the  diagnosis of a chronic illness.

Seeking therapy was a turning point for me; it was so transformative that I decided to retrain so I could  offer that same support to others. I believe that our life stories shape how we see the world. My own experiences with bereavement, relationship difficulties, chronic illness, and work-related stress allow me to meet you with genuine understanding and empathy.  I know how heavy perfectionism or family trauma can feel, and I am here to hold that space so you can explore your experiences.

My philosophy is simple: we heal through connection. In our sessions, I aim to be myself— warm, accepting and down‑to‑earth. When you feel truly seen and accepted, you find the safety needed to explore the parts of yourself that have been tucked away.

Away from my practice, I find balance in the simple things. I’m an avid reader who loves a quiet moment with a book and a cup of tea. I also cherish time with my dogs and my loved ones. Nature is my sanctuary; whether I am walking outside or just being still, it helps me find a sense of calm when life feels a little too loud.

Qualifications & Experience

I  am due to complete my MSc (Level 7) in Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy this summer at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, where I have trained over the last four years.

I am a UKCP-registered trainee Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapist.

  • Level 2 Award in Counselling Concepts
  • Level 2 Award in Awareness of Mental Health Problems

Before becoming a therapist I worked in education as a science teacher. I have achieved a BSc, MSc and PGCE.

The Way I Work

If you are considering therapy for the first time, it is natural to feel a little anxious about what to expect. My approach is rooted in Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy, which simply means that I put you and your unique experience at the heart of our time together.

It is "person-centred" because I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role isn’t to tell you what to do ,or diagnose you,  but to provide a warm, safe, and judgment-free space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace to understand yourself and find what you need. I focus on building a genuine relationship where you feel truly heard and accepted exactly as you are.

The "experiential" part means we don’t just talk about things; we pay attention to how you are feeling in the present moment. Sometimes words aren’t enough, and by focusing on your internal experience, we can often discover deeper insights into your experiences.

Taking that first step is often the hardest part, but you don’t have to do it alone. We will work together, tailoring our sessions to suit you, helping you to find your own way forward and move towards a life that feels more like your own again.

I currently work with adults only. At present I only offer online sessions, but in person sessions will be available soon.

Sessions are 50 minutes in length and cost £50.

You are the expert on your life, but that doesn't mean you have to navigate it alone. I aim to offer clients a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and compassionate space, building a trusting relationship where your voice is heard.

If you would like to see if we can work together, I offer a 15-minute call to explore what brings you to therapy at this time and what you hope to gain from the experience. You can ask any questions and get a sense of whether we could work together. If it is a good fit for you, we can arrange an initial meeting.

Not everyone likes to talk on the phone - and that's ok! If you would like to explore if we are the right fit and don't wish to have a call, please leave me a message, and we can have an email/text exchange.
